Family Avoids Watery Death

After being the parent of two small children for ten days I am happy to report that I have not lost my mind. I have misplaced it several times, but only temporarily. Last Saturday we headed over to New Hampshire to find a Target store in order to lay-in some additional small-child supplies: rubber nipples, rocket cups, bottle brushes, bales of diapers, food grinder, illustrated flatware, etc. We were crammed into a Subaru and the three-year-old was having a tantrum because the six-month-old was having a fit. My wife and I just looked at each other and started laughing. It was that or drive directly into the Connecticut River. From time to time you read in the newspaper about these things happening. Parents of small children are never surprised.

To Blog, or not to have Blogged? That's the question.

The act of updating your blog - such as what I am doing this very moment - is called "blogging". I've never seen this particular verb conjugated, but I assume that if we are "blogging" today, then yesterday we must have "blogged". But do we log on to "do some blogging"? Or do we log on simply "to blog". And if you don't keep up with your blog very well would that make you an underblogger? Never mind. I just googled 'underblog' and got over 2 million hits. I knew it was too obvious to have been my idea. But let's get back to the grammar. I really would like some feedback on the verb tenses of 'blogging'. If there is an industry standard I'd like to know it. At least I could explain to my wife in plain English what I'm doing up here.

It's a Boy

A few weeks ago I mentioned in passing that I was going to Central America, but I didn't say why. My wife and I are adopting a 5 month-old boy from Guatemala. We received word yesterday that everything is final. We are to present ourselves at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City Tuesday, March 7 to acquire for our boy an American passport and bring him home. I hope this explains the long pauses between my posts as of late. I hope to settle into a better routine -- or perhaps lose my mind completely -- once we're home again and administering to the daily needs of a three-year-old, a baby, and an incurable writing habit. Be well. Check in often.
